Third Way Statement on House Passage of Trade Promotion Authority

June 18, 2015

Today Third Way issued the following statement from Jim Kessler, Senior Vice President for Policy:

“Today’s vote is a win for compromise, jobs, and the middle class and a setback for entrenched special interests. There are certain to be twists and turns as we seek a trade deal that has the United States, not China, setting the rules for commerce in Asia, but today is a huge step forward. We urge the Senate to pass this legislation and address TAA as quickly as possible in a separate bill. We especially applaud the 28 Democrats who stared down the politics of the past in order to help America and Americans look to the future and compete in the 21st century.”
