Press Assistant and Executive Coordinator
Rykia Dorsey is an Atlanta, Georgia native but moved to Washington, D.C. with dreams of pursuing a career in political communications. She attended Howard University, which she still credits as the best decision she’s ever made, and graduated with a degree in journalism and political science in 2014.
As Third Way’s Press Assistant and Executive Coordinator, Rykia uses her experience in media and public affairs to advance fresh thinking and moderate ideas in today’s political climate.
Prior to joining Third Way, Rykia worked in the Public Affairs and Crisis Practice of Burson-Marsteller where she developed messaging, conducted media relations, and leveraged digital media to advance the business priorities of clients in the non-profit, public, and private sector. She was also a political media fellow at Bully Pulpit Interactive and interned in the Office of Congressman David Scott.
Rykia is an advocate for women’s empowerment and is an active member of ColorComm and Women in Government Relations (WGR). Rykia is also a proud member of the largest African-American public service sorority, Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.
In her spare time, Rykia is a D.C. brunch aficionado, an avid news reader, and always enjoys a spirited debate of ideas. Those who know Rykia well agree that a think tank is the perfect nine to five for her.
