Orin Smith was president and chief executive officer of Starbucks Corporation from 2000 to 2005. Prior to joining Starbucks in 1990, Mr. Smith spent 14 years as a management consultant with Deloitte & Touche.
He has been a director of Nike, Inc. since 2004 and served on the Board of Washington Mutual, Inc. from 2005 to March 2012. Since 2006, Mr. Smith has been the director of the Walt Disney Company—elected as independent lead director of the company in March 2012. He serves as chairman of the Starbucks Foundation, vice chairman of the University of Washington Board of Regents, and a member of the Conservation International Board of Directors.
Mr. Smith is a graduate of The University of Washington and Harvard Business School. He was named one of Business Week’s “Best Managers” in 2004.
